CHICAGO, Ill. — Authorities are investigating a late-night shooting that left multiple people injured near a food market on Chicago’s South Side Friday night. The violent incident prompted a heavy police response as investigators worked to secure the area and gather information about what happened.
According to preliminary emergency radio reports, officers responded to the area near A&J Food Market after reports of a multi-victim shooting. Authorities were dispatched to the scene at approximately 342 West 75th Street following calls of gunfire erupting in the area.
Initial information from responders indicated that at least three victims had already been transported to nearby hospitals for treatment before officers arrived. Investigators say the suspect fled the scene shortly after the shooting in a tinted white Nissan.
