KINSTON, N.C. — A deadly shooting early Thursday morning has left the Kinston community grieving after 28-year-old Marquez Lewis lost his life in a violent incident near Stadiem Drive and Nobles Lane. The tragic shooting has sparked concern among residents as investigators continue searching for answers.
According to the Kinston Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 12:15 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found Lewis suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began providing emergency medical aid while waiting for additional responders to arrive.
Despite the efforts of officers and emergency personnel at the scene, Lewis later succumbed to his injuries.
